Tenuta, to whom Joan Rivers refers as, The funniest woman in the world, is the first standup to have won Best Female Comedian by the American Comedy Awards, and was twice nominated for a Grammy.
Her acerbic wit and over-the-top irreverence have earned her the unofficial title of fun-feminist, as she preaches that all women should be worshipped as Love Goddess and all men have an equal opportunity to be her furniture.
Tenuta's performances reflect the bizarre, cutting edge and always hilarious character for which she has become famous.
Tenuta has had regular guest appearances on The Joan Rivers Show, E!, CNN and Comedy Central. She has served as special correspondent for America Journal and Entertainment Tonight, and has recorded an album entitled Buy This Pigs, for Elektra Records.
Tenuta also hosted her own nightly talk/variety show, The Princess of Pop Culture in 1997, via the Alternative Entertainment Network.
Her latest book, The Power of Judyism, and accompanying CD, gives explicit instructions on how to turn unsuspecting trolls into your personal love-slaves.
The Improv, America's original comedy club, was established in 1963 by owner and founder Budd Friedman as a place where young performers could showcase their talent before a live audience. The concept flourished in New York, and Friedman decided to take it to Hollywood where it soon became a successful launching pad for up and coming comedians, as well as a place where established comedians could try out new material.
On August 17, the Improv will celebrate its 40th anniversary, with a special to be taped for network television. The special, hosted by Friedman from the Los Angeles location, is sponsored by Diet Coke, and will be aired during late August.
